The 17-year-old cat, abandoned by her family, finds happiness again and hopes that her home can have her golden years

A 17-year-old cat was taken from the only house she knew. Rescuers jumped into action and helped her become happy again.

Kaelle das Kaliko was 17 years old when her family no longer wanted her. She was taken away from the place she was familiar with and was completely lost and confused.

The older cat kept her head bowed the entire time she was at the vet. She sat quietly in the corner of her kennel and did not raise her head until the staff came to check on her.

They tried to cheer her up and reassure her that she was safe while they did her wellness check.

Chatons Orphelins Montréal, a cat rescue in Montreal, Canada, was saddened by the situation and took action. They arranged a foster family so that the calico could be pampered and loved in a home setting.

“Kaelle was pretty healthy considering her age. She was very nice in the clinic and easily let the veterinary team check her out without any complaints,” said Celine Crom of Chatons Orphelins Montréal Love Meow.

Amandine, a volunteer carer, picked her up and brought her home. Kaelle was a bit shy at first, but as soon as she heard her name, she went to her foster mother to get the much-needed head scraper.

After checking every nook and cranny, she sat down next to her foster mother to look for more pets. She was so happy to be loved again that she purred to sleep.

The cute calico with the extra toes came out of her shell quickly when she realized she was home.

In no time she blossomed and became the focus of attention she should be. She followed her foster mother around the house, making sure she was never alone.

“Kaelle is naturally calm and loves to be petted. She likes being around her people and keeping them company when they are teleworking,” shared Celine with Love Meow.

“She likes to be the only cat in the house who makes the call. She’s so easy going and all she needs is hugs and attention.”

In just a few days, the adorable polydactyl got her beautiful smile back. The frown and sadness in her eyes turned into a look of joy.

Kaelle will ask for cuddles whenever she sees fit and won’t take no for an answer. “She doesn’t hesitate to come and lie down on the computer keyboard for pets and attention,” Celine told Love Meow.
