Vamos A Pescar organized an exclusive fishing event with Houston Astros star Carlos Correa and fiancée Daniela Rodríguez that surprised more than 100 families and fishing fans at a youth fishing clinic in Katy, Texas. The event was produced and organized by Vamos A Pescar and took place in collaboration with Fishing’s Future in the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World.
Carlos and Daniela got engaged on the field after winning the Astros World Series. During the fishing event, they enjoyed the time talking to the kids, signing autographs, taking photos, and playing a little fishing competition with kids (which, according to Daniella, won by a narrow margin, according to Carlos.
Carlos Correa has been an avid fisherman since he was little. He grew up in a fishing village in Puerto Rico. Fishing is one of Carlos’ favorite hobbies when he’s not in the field. Carlos and Rodríguez helped the teenagers practice basic fishing skills in this activity, from throwing a line, anchoring a hook, to identifying different species of fish.
Carlos says, “Fishing is a great way to connect with nature and create memories of Daniella and my family,” he also comments. “It also teaches you the importance of commitment, an essential skill for me on the field.” “There’s nothing like catching your first fish and having the satisfaction of having achieved something you worked so hard for.” “Partnering with RBFF and Vamos a Pescar to pass this hobby on to younger generations is an effort that I am proud to be a part of.”
The event was broadly covered in the Houston area with six local TV stations plus an MLB.com reporter on the site to interview Carlos and Daniella about their relationship with RBFF and Vamos a Pescar. The story was also promoted by the Houston Chronicle and many other national outlets.
