“Dearest, friendliest” pit bull with just one bag of food

Clearwater Police recently picked up an adorable pit bull on the side of the road. He was kind and happy to see people, but he was so thin you could see his ribs. Now the police are looking for the person responsible for leaving him. You could be charged with cruelty to animals.

Despite a difficult start, the brave dog remains optimistic and excited. Once he is fully healed, he will be ready to find a loving family forever as well.

A dog who deserves love

The innocent pit bull was found alone on the side of the road. Someone had left a bag of food with him, and that was all. But it was clear that this furry friend wanted more love than anything that he probably lacked in his previous home.

“That dog seemed to our officer the kindest, kindest creature there could be,” said Rob Shaw of Clearwater Police.

The police noted that the dog appeared to be malnourished and not taken care of. So they took him to Pinellas County Animal Control to give him the care he needs. They hope he can be adopted in just a week, as long as all of his medical care is taken care of.

Second chance for a dog in need

While the dog heals and gets its second chance, the police look for the person responsible. The dog did not have tags or microchips, so they have very few leashes. They think the suspect might be driving a black pickup. But while the search is important in bringing justice to the dog, ultimately you are glad he is safe now.

Police and animal control understand that families sometimes have to give up their dogs. But there is a right and a wrong way. Unfortunately, this person chose the wrong path.

“Sometimes people’s circumstances change and they are unable to care for a dog, cat or animal the way they used to be. So our solution would be to contact humane society and contact animal control.” said Shaw.

Fortunately, this cuddly pit bull is now in good hands. Life at the shelter may be a bit stressful for him, but hopefully he doesn’t have to stay long. If you live near Clearwater and recognize the dog, please call (727) 562-4242 to find the person who left him.
